Young U.S. Soldier Dies in Training Accident in Hungary

A 24-year-old U.S. Army Sergeant, Aaron Cox, who was serving with the 101st Airborne Division’s 2nd Air Strike Mobile Brigade Combat Team, lost his life in a training accident that took place in Hungary on Thursday.

The accident occurred during a confirmed training run. It was the time when a military vehicle lost control and turned over. Sgt. Cox sustained severe injuries, and the doctor who arrived by helicopter had to fly him to the hospital. Unfortunately, he passed away later.
The second serviceman, who was the cause of the accident, was also taken to the hospital with severe injuries; however, he is now in a stable condition. Those who were also participating in the exercise were examined and some experienced returned to normality.

“We are therefore the first to fight the Battle of the loss of Sgt. Cox and celebrate in him a strong, bright rising leader amongst our ranks. Colonel Duke Reim, 101st Airborne Division, expressed, “He was a soldier most devoted to the cause of peace and freedom by virtue of his character and conduct. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, and we are giving them all the support during the tragic period,”

He was sent to Poland as part of his overseas deployment in 2022 where he was first assigned in Fort Campbell in 2021 after training at Fort Benning in 2022 and then transferred to Fort Campbell in 2022.

Among his countless personal awards, the Expert Infantryman Badge, and the Air Assault Badge (which he had earned) are the ones that signal his defiance of danger, his devotion to duty, and his courageousness; they are living testimony to the fact that he meets all the requirements of a peace protector(enemy crusher).

The military police and the US. Army CID are now working tooth and nail to figure out what really happened.

The passing away of Sgt. Cox is really a very sad form of reminders of the dangers that the soldiers have to face on a daily basis, even during their training. His patriotism and his service to the country will always be remembered and honored.
