Third Arrest Made in Death of Telemundo Super Bowl Reporter Adan Manzano

In Louisiana, the police have made a third apprehension as they continue to dig into the background of the fatal death of Adan Manzano, a Telemundo reporter, earlier this year, who, while in town for the Super Bowl, was found dead.

It was on Friday that the Kenner Police Department revealed that they had arrested 33-year-old Christian Anderson, a New Orleans local, for his alleged participation in the criminal chain that was the cause of Manzano’s unfortunate passing. At this point, Anderson has been joined by two others – Danette Colbert and Rickey White who were already in custody in relation to the case.

Manzano, employed at KGKC Telemundo Kansas City and Tico Sports, was located on the floor with his face in a pillow in his Kenner hotel room on February 5. His cause of death, as determined by the coroner of Jefferson Parish, was a combination of his position that led to there being no air and a lethal dose of Xanax and alcohol.

The case suddenly took on a grimmer outlook. The investigators found out that Manzano’s mobile phone and credit card have been kept at the residence of Colbert. Surveillance footage and digital communication were in support of the view that substantially all the items were victims of a very clever and serial drugging and stealing pattern.

According to the police, Anderson played a very significant role in the whole affair, which ran behind closed doors. He not only rented the car used by Colbert for the day Manzano died but also provided the authorities with what they termed a logical “logistical backup” and was one of the interlocutors in the post-crime phase. The phrase “helped the group try to profit off stolen items” is a good example of the authorities’ theory, and his conversations with Colbert after the incident indicate that a coordinated criminal behavior pattern had been established.

Anderson is facing a number of charges such as:

  • Principal to simple robbery
  • Purse snatching
  • Access device fraud
  • Illegal transmission of monetary funds
  • Bank fraud
  • Computer fraud

The law enforcement officers are holding him in a detention facility in Jefferson Parish.

Colbert, the alleged mastermind, was arrested on property-related charges. However, after the autopsy report was released, she had to answer the second-degree murder charge in court. Brutal is the word that best describes her criminal past—she was sent to jail for 25 years just a few days back due to her previous fraud conviction. The Louisiana Attorney General’s Office demanded a longer prison sentence for the accused because of her regular patterns of tourist and vulnerable people hunting in New Orleans’ French Quarter.

Liz Murrill, the attorney general, characterized the situation in a powerful manner:

“This woman was such a fraudster that the evidence was beyond any doubt. We could have saved Adan Manzano’s life, I wish.” The inquiry is ongoing, but with all three suspects arrested, the authorities and Manzano’s family are that much closer to justice.
