Missing County Roscommon Man Found Safe After Days in Spain
Relief and thankfulness are being felt right across the Roscommon region today after it was announced that Barry Kelly, a Roosky native missing in Spain, had made contact with his relatives.
Barry was last seen or heard of last Saturday, and concern was being expressed in his family and friends and prompted a public plea for help. His last known whereabouts were Alicante Airport in south-east Spain, and after days of being quiet, worry understandably mounted.
Earlier today, Colette, Barry’s sister, used social media and local networks to raise the alarm and issue the appeal for assistance to locate him. The appeal for assistance was answered by a tide of goodwill from the local community and beyond, as family members and friends, and total strangers, came together to carry the message.
Luckily, later that evening, Colette was able to post the great news that Barry had phoned and was okay. “Thanks everyone for your help searching for Barry,” she posted, truly grateful. “He has phoned and is okay. Great appreciate goodness and kindness of friends, family and all who’ve contacted us.”
The family’s message is a testament to the power of community – how fast people will rally at a moment of crisis, with messages, support, and doing whatever they can to get a loved one home.
No details about Barry’s disappearance are given, but the best news of all is that he is safe and his family can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
It’s a positive note to a disquieting couple of days and a testament to the strength of community when its people unite.
