Michigan Couple Wins $2 Million Lottery Prize While Celebrating Their Anniversary
Picture that: A love story that has a very fortunate twist! A couple from Oakland County, Michigan, who celebrated their wedding anniversary just turned it into a day they will always remember by winning an astonishing $2 million lottery prize.
The woman, aged 44, told that the start of the day was just like the many of the anniversaries : with a small tradition. She and her husband took and scraped one of their most liked scratch-off games, Diamonds & Gold, from Opdyke Featherstone Mobil station in Auburn Hills at that time of the year.
“We enjoy playing scratch-offs together, especially the Diamonds & Gold game,” she said. “This time, we scratched it off on our anniversary and my husband noticed the big number first. He just froze and said something felt off – it was too good to be true.”
Despite expecting an early telephone call from the store the next morning, the couple took the ticket back to the store to verify their win. They placed the receipt in the scanner, which then showed them a note that they had to take this ticket to the lottery office to claim their prize. Still doubtful, they turned to a friend asking to scan the ticket with the Michigan Lottery mobile app.
“I was trembling when I saw $2 million appear on the screen. I couldn’t believe it,” she remembered. “It was the best surprise that we could’ve ever got on our special day.”
The money from the lottery is something they couple is going to spend wisely. They are planning to buy a new house, think over investments, and save the rest of the money for their kids’ college education.
