FBI Announces New Probes: What’s Behind the Dobbs Leak and White House Cocaine Incident?

Continuing what can be described as the unprecedented decision, the FBI has returned to the scene of two high-profile incidents, largely: the leak of the Supreme Court draft opinion that led to the reversal of Roe v. Wade in 2022, and the mysterious cocaine find at the White House in 2023.

It was during the late hours of May 26 that Dan Bongino, through a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), announced the move, and he was no less than the new FBI deputy director (who, by the way, was once a conservative talk show host). The man of the hour, Bongino, further disclosed that he and FBI Director Kash Patel had decided to refocus on some of the unsolved cases whose “public interest” was “naturally the strongest.”

So, what’s the topic of discussion now?

1. White House Cocaine Case (2023)

In brief, what happened was that Joe Biden was not at the White House; there was a theft of a small sack of cocaine in the West Wing, the suspects of which are still at large. Even with the intense scrutiny and initial investigations conducted by the Secret Service, the case was closed. Nonetheless, the officials only accused a “lack of physical evidence” as the reason for the case going nowhere; no suspect was identified and the case was resolved without any public knowledge. The case had been forgotten for a long time until now.

The White House cocaine case was the gaffe that angered most critics, especially Republicans who felt that a more decisive leadership would have solved the matter. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer labeled the drug incident as “unacceptable” and a “shameful moment in the White House’s history.” The attention from the FBI got some hopeful of some much-desired resolution to the mystery.

2. The Supreme Court Draft Leak (2022)

Equally controversial was when, in 2022, a draft Supreme Court opinion overturning Roe v. Wade was anonymously leaked to the public. Politico was the paper where the document was placed and it was months before the document was supposed to be released. The publication of the paper led to nationwide disagreements and a series of protests as well. Although there were those who were investing the leak, and among them were the leading public figures and even retired Justice Stephen Breyer, who confessed that he had “theories,” the leaker has remained a mystery to this date.

Breyer hardly accused the judge, although he did say that he was even ready to be “amazed if it was a judge”. However, even with such words, a leak of information occurred that raised serious concerns about the court’s confidentiality and internal processes in the country.

3. Capitol Riot Pipe Bomb Case (2021)

Meanwhile, word comes that the FBI has also devoted a good portion of their team to identify the suspected person behind a bomb placed at the Republican and Democratic national headquarters on the same day, January 6, 2021, while a mob was storming the Capitol. Furthermore, the suspect who is still at large despite the presence of security footage and a highly publicized investigation, has been away for years without a trace.

Bongino: “We’re Making Progress”

Bongino said he will be receiving weekly briefings on all three cases and that Americans can be “100% sure” that these multiple cases are moving forward. Briefly, the subjects of those cases are open government, the country’s responsibility, and national security, so the risks are higher than ever before.

Now, especially when transparency and truth have to be maintained, the FBI is focused on delivering the long-awaited answers.
