Camping Season Kicks Off in Michigan State Parks – With a Heads-Up on Price Changes
Michigan’s camping season is in full swing, and nature enthusiasts are already making their way to state parks across the state to enjoy the great outdoors. Whether it’s the lakeside, the green trails, or the warmth of the campfire, state parks such as Hoffmaster in Muskegon County are the perfect summer hangouts.
However, aside from the fact that people are now so anxious to book their recreational vehicle sites, there is also a warning for the camping population: the new prices have already been scheduled in the whole of the state. Starting from August 1, camping fees in all Michigan state parks will be increased by $5 to $10 per night, depending on the location and amenities.
Hoffmaster, a venue with 295 campsites, 10 of which are specially designed for people with disabilities, currently lists the prices from $39 to $45 a night. These variations depend on the amperage of the electricity and the day of the week. But after August, these prices will rise sharply for all visitors:
30-amp service:
- Weekdays: $45
- Weekends: $48
- Weekdays: $45
- Weekends: $48
50-amp service:
- Weekdays: $50
- Weekends: $53
- Weekdays: $50
- Weekends: $53
The increase in the relevant charges here mirrors the heightened demand being registered for state park camping and a concurrent focus on maintaining park quality and amenities. “We can see that the increase in camping nights is quite obvious,” Givens observed. “People are now more open to camping and that is what we want.”
Due to the high demand, both Hoffmaster and the other parks are requesting visitors to book their stay in advance. You can make your reservations as early as six months in advance and in case you are one of those who prefer last-minute trips, you will get informed through the cancellation alert system when the location is available again.
Easy and most of all all things Givens tells everybody of a few very good but essential info: “Remember, to carry as well as food, and don’t miss out on the most important – enjoy yourself.”
Of course the answer is yes, not the only thing you want is a tent under the trees or a camper by the lake, now you will have the tran and your celebration of life written down by the date of August 1st.
