Wrong-Way Crash in Washtenaw County Leaves Michigan Man Dead, Police Say

Deadly midnight collision in Washtenaw County took the life of a rising Whitmore Lake man whose car crashed into a semi-truck head-on after he traveled the wrong way.

Michigan State Police Brighton Post indicates that the deadly crash occurred late Monday evening around 11 p.m. on westbound M-14 west of Vorhies Road in Superior Township. Early reports indicate a 25-year-old Whitmore Lake man who was traveling in his 2009 Acura the wrong way – westbound in the eastbound lane before he crashed into legally driven semi-tractor traveling in an easterly direction.

The other 25-year-old Ontario, Canada, driver of the semi-truck also sustained major front-end damage in the crash. The crash was fatal to the Acura driver, with emergency personnel to discover the driver dead upon arrival.

The driver of the semi-truck sustained minor injuries but hospitalization was not the fault, authorities said.

State police confirm that the investigation has not been completed, but preliminary observations indicate that alcohol or drug impairment was a possible factor in the crash. Troopers continue to gather evidence and reconstruct the accident.
