Deputies Take Suspect Into Custody After Spencer Township Shooting Involving Teen

Peaceful and serene at dawn on Monday morning, a massive accident occurred in Spencer Township, Michigan, injuring a reclusive teenager and placing a town in a taut state of preparedness. Kent County Sheriff’s Department is divulging that the deputies were there to act in response to shots fired at house which is positioned at Keller Avenue NE, just off north 21 Mile Road early in morning hours.

Police report it was a fight between two adults within. The brawl did have a weapon in the midst of the struggle, and they were grappling for the gun. The gun went off accidentally while they were grappling with the gun and struck a teenage boy not involved in the fight in the foot.

The teenager was taken to the hospital for treatment. Fortunately, his wounds were not life-threatening, and he was treated and released. Another child, who was at home when the shooting began, moved fast and went to a neighbor’s house and called the police. That call resulted in the sheriff’s deputies rushing into the community in quick response.

Deputies happened to be present when the male suspect was reportedly involved in the fight and took off. Suspect Andres Simons-Salgado, age 39, was nowhere on the ground and had to remain at large. The police issued a public warning asking the public for assistance to find him and informing him that he was “armed and dangerous.”

The sheriff’s office sent its deputies and cooperated with other law enforcement authorities in arresting Simons-Salgado. He was arrested and brought in shortly after that Greenville day, which is a town about 25 miles northeast of the scene where the crime had been committed. He is held at the Kent County Correctional Facility at present as prosecutors are considering review and charge prosecution against him for perhaps charging him with criminal charges.

Also, the authorities confirmed that the federal authorities have been alerted. That Simons-Salgado has a pending open investigation for unlawful re-entry into the United States was released by the sheriff’s office, meaning that he will probably be charged with other legal offenses aside from those concerning the shooting.

The incident has raised alarm and alarm among the community whose majority were shocked by initial reports that a child was at the epicenter of domestic disagreements. Despite the fact that the teen girl suffered only a bruise, the experience bears testimony to the gravity with which domestic disagreements can spiral out of control beyond their initial check – particularly when children are involved and guns are not out of the question.

Police authorities were also swift in their response, not only to the shooting but to arresting and holding the suspect within a matter of hours. Their action did undoubtedly prevent further damage and brought relief to an extent to the community. The investigation continues, and much remains unclear most importantly what charges Simons-Salgado will be held on and what ultimately becomes of the federal investigation into his status as an immigrant.

The sheriff’s department yet has not made any other announcement on what had initiated the altercation and how the gun was a part of the altercation. Whether the gun belonged to Simons-Salgado or not yet has not been made public.

As the investigation is ongoing, the case reminds one of how fast domestic violence escalates beyond anyone’s control and how fast, in this case readily available lies as easily as they were, guns made everything so much more deadly. It ought also to remind everyone involved of the importance of open process and open channels of communication in crises like the bright young thing who had absconded and might have prevented this from being a worse disaster.

The people are assured that there was not additional tragedy in the case of domestic violence, and leaders from communities are appealing to the people to report any indication and identify a case of domestic violence and get assistance if they notice or identify them. There are local and national agencies that assist the victims of such cases.

Meanwhile, the Kent County Sheriff’s Office is also calling on anyone with additional information about the case to come forward. They are also thanking the public for rallying so quickly to identify the suspect, once again demonstrating how helpful cooperative community efforts are to a case like this.

Andres Simons-Salgado is under police custody, and the outcome would be revealed by what was collected by the local police and federal authorities. The citizens hold their breaths and anxiously wait to know if the justice had been served and if the perpetrators, particularly the minor victims, were able to overcome the wounds incurred on the black night.
