Boulder Fire Attack: Suspect Charged with Federal Hate Crime and Attempted Murder

The man charged with the burning down of a group in Boulder, who were peacefully demanding the release of Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip, has been brought before the court of public opinion.

One Mohamed Sabry Soliman, who is aged 45, was indicted by a federal jury for a hate crime. Apart from that, Soliman is still under investigation for the attempted murder, and it is more than likely that further charges will be brought against him, such as the assault and a felony that caused serious physical injury to a vulnerable adult over 70 years of age.

Law enforcement officials say there were twelve persons who had been harmed by the offender. The injured were in the age range of between 52 and 88. The condition of at least one person was reported as life-threatening as of yesterday night. The Attorney General of Colorado, Phil Weiser, who has the Holocaust survivors – his family, said that the event cannot be more clearly an antisemitic hate crime. The FBI has also expressed the same opinion, and the FBI’s Director Kash Patel has posted on his social media that the attack is a “targeted terror attack”.

Until the spring of 2023, Soliman was an Uber driver. The company made clear that the man has not been removed from the list of drivers for the reason that he has been chosen by the company to provide his services to the people to the best of his abilities. In line with its established practice, the company has followed its rules and regulations to the letter, including the one that states that whoever is going to be working as a driver has no criminal record and is not a danger on the road. As verified by the company, such a deactivation resulted not from previous customer complaints. In a statement, the company declared that it is in full cooperation with authorities in their investigation.

The people in the city of Boulder are still struggling to cope with this shocking act of violence that left many in shock and awe. At the same time, the police are combing through Soliman’s records, his roots, and the recent occurrences in his life. At this point, everything speaks for the claim that this is a hate crime, and therefore, both the local and federal authorities will jointly work on the case and bring to book the perpetrators.
